Keen insights from Bailey.
Hi there, fellow pups and paw-rents!
It’s Bailey here, your soon-to-be favorite Pomeranian pup.
I’m an expert on all things fun in the Southern California desert.
Okay, maybe I’m still five months old and pushing three pounds. Even though I haven’t been to puppy school, I have a lot to say.
So here’s what’s up in Bailey-ville.
I’m wiggling my curly Pomeranian tail with excitement to tell you about some of the best dog parks in the Coachella Valley!
If you’re a local pup or just visiting from snow-bird-villes, these spots are paw-perfect for stretching your legs, making new fur friends, and having a good ole romp-about.
But first, let me tell you a little about my fur family.
My sister Emmi doesn’t like going to dog parks and prefers to stay home. While we’re out, I’m pretty sure she watches The Real Housewives of Orange County.
She’s a rescue and a stray dog that was mistreated (Ugh, that’s really awful). She doesn’t take well to other rambunctious dogs. She even gives adorable me a little shove off. Mom says it’s a snarl, but come on, she’s just smiling at me.
At home, Emmi rules.
I don’t know how to work an iPhone yet, so I had these drawn.
And then there’s my other sister, Sydney. She’s a ‘Squirmy’ Doodle. Mom says she’s a miniature Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle.
She’s barely 20 pounds, but she’s tough as rawhide.
Once, she chased a huge ‘Germ-y’ (Am I saying that right?) Shepherd at the park and tired him out!
The owner looked, well, um, peeved.
I pranced around her, impressed and proud of my big sister. Don’t mess with Sydney.
Now that you’ve met my pack, let’s dive into my favorite dog parks!
Civic Center Park Dog Park – Palm Desert
This is my go-to spot for a fun day out! Located within the larger Civic Center Park, this fenced doggy paradise has plenty of room for pups to run and play. There’s even a separate area for small dogs like me, so I can zoom around without worrying about the big guys. The park provides water fountains for thirsty pups and shaded seating for humans who need a break.
Bailey: Wet grass makes me pee-pee.
Paw tip: Come on, fur-parents, get your lovely selves out of bed early and bring your furry friend to the park to beat the heat.
Freedom Park Dog Park – Palm Desert
If you’re looking for a quieter spot, Freedom Park is paws-itively wonderful! This hidden gem has a spacious area for dogs of all sizes to explore and sniff to their hearts’ content. My favorite part? The grass! It’s soft and perfect for rolling around. My humans love that it’s clean and well-maintained, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing outing.
Bailey: Long grass tickles my belly.
Paw tip: Tie a few doggie bags to your leash, just in case.
Pioneer Park Dog Park – Rancho Mirage
Pioneer Park is the place to be for a park with a view. Nestled in Rancho Mirage, this park has a lovely fenced area for dogs to socialize and play. It’s a great spot to meet other pups and show off my fluff. The park also has shaded areas and benches for humans, so bring a water bowl and enjoy the desert scenery while we pups have fun.
Bailey: Warm areas with just dirt make my paws dirty. Ew.
Paw tip: Keep a little bottle of water, just in case. I don’t mind drinking out of yours.
Fritz Burns Park – La Quinta
La Quinta’s Fritz Burns Park is a pup’s dream! This dog park has two areas—one for small and one for large dogs—so everyone feels safe and comfortable. There’s plenty of shade and lots of friendly dogs to meet. While there’s no agility equipment here, Sydney thinks there is! Once, she scrambled up and over a park bench. Some folks looked put out. She spilled someone’s french fries, which we gladly helped clean up. I’m not sure we stayed long in the park. Mom must have had too much sun. Her face was all red.
Bailey: Bring sunscreen.
Paw tip: Be careful of wild animals. Mom says park benches are not obstacle courses.
Century Park Dog Park – Cathedral City
Last but not least, Century Park Dog Park in Cathedral City is perfect for a casual playdate. The park is fully fenced and has separate areas for big and small dogs, as well as plenty of grass and open space. Its relaxed vibe makes it a favorite for pups who just want to sniff around and chill. Plus, the surrounding park is great for a post-play stroll with your humans.
This is where Sydney chased a Germy Sheppard. Yeah, I’m saying that right.
I forgot to tell you. She may have nipped an ankle or two.
Bailey: Don’t tangle with Sydney.
Paw tip: Bring your running shoes.

Paw Tips for Visiting Dog Parks in the Desert
Before you head out to explore these fantastic parks, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
- Always bring water for me.
- Check the weather. Don’t go when it’s super hot. I’ll pant, and Pomeranians do not pant.
- Make sure your human picks up our ‘grass gifts’ (it’s polite!).
- Keep your vaccinations updated so you can play safely with other pups.
Did you know that in England, they call them jabs? Either way, it doesn’t sound very appealing.
So there you have it, my favorite dog parks in the Coachella Valley!
Whether you’re a desert local or just passing through, these spots will surely get your bum wagging.
I’ll see you out there—look for the most beautiful Pomeranian zooming around and say hi!
Blow Kisses. All Paws and Baby Teeth,
Bailey
